About Bioenergy
Finland is Europe’s fifth largest bioenergy user, and the share of bioenergy of total energy consumption is one of the highest in Europe. Bioenergy makes up 76% of Finland’s renewable energy and accounts for 32% of the country’s total energy consumption (2022). Bioenergy is energy produced from biofuels. In Finland, biofuels come from biomass found in forests, peatlands, and fields, as well as from organic waste generated by communities, agriculture, and industries.
