Erika Laajalahti serves as the Sector Manager for carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) at The Bioenergy Association of Finland.

Sampo Mäkikouri is a Senior Scientist working at VTT with ten years of expertise in the CCUS field. He has specialized in CO2 mineralization concepts including CO2-cured concrete, artificial aggregates, industrial by-product utilization and CO2 storage.

Site Visit to Vantaa Energy’s Waste-to-Energy Plant

As part of the Bio‑CO₂ Use and Removal 2026 programme, participants are invited to visit Vantaa Energy’s waste‑to‑energy plant on Monday afternoon from 13:30 to 16:30. The visit will introduce Vantaa Carbon Capture, Finland’s first industrial‑scale carbon capture and storage project.

Bus transportation will be provided from Helsinki city centre to the facility and back. Places are limited and allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Registered participants will receive further details and confirmation in advance. Signing up for the site visit is available through the event ticket shop as a separate question during ticket purchase!
